It is now becoming a common problem due to increasing usage of computer and other types of visual screen in every day life. The methods which can help in the prevention of eye strain are as follows:

1. Eyewear: If some one has been advised for power glasses by a medical practitioner, it may be taken care that the eyewear is appropriate for the usage with the computer screen as generally the glasses are designed for reading printed matter.
2. Eye break: The eye should be given proper breaks while doing work so that it may relax properly which relaxes the stretched muscles. There is a 20-20-20 rule for this condition. While working one should give eye a break after every 20 minutes and look at any object 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This will give the eye muscles proper relief and there will be no more strains.
3. Blink: Generally while working on computer people blinks less often due to which the eyes becomes dry. So it should be kept in mind that the blinking of eye should be normal by which tears are produced which lubricates the eyes.
4. Air: The working place should have proper air circulation and should be fitted with a humidifier if possible to avoid smoke and control the humidity in the air which is also responsible for the drying of the eyes.
5. Eye drops: The eye drops also serves as the artificial lubricants for the eyes. They can be used as many times as desired if they do not contain any kind of preservatives as preservatives are not much good for eyes. They may eyen worsen the condition of dry eye.
