This time heaven is definitely a place on Earth. The Marchesa Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection lines up a parade of angels
who walk through the crowd in their golden gowns and alluring party frocks. Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman were touched by the out-of-this-world charm of William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s painting ‘A Soul Brought to Heaven’. The 19th century painting emanates a supernatural and at the same time extremely relaxing vibe. Designers at Marchesa tried to give back something of this heavenly atmosphere with their amazing dresses.
By using tulle and sizzling embroidery they succeeded in immortalizing this collection. We had the chance to see a cavalcade of floor-sweeping gowns all glammed up with tapestries and wing formations incorporated into the complete silhouette of the dress. The repertoire left the audience speechless! Moving on the verge of heaven and mortality, the two style godmothers decided to create a few ensembles inspired by macabre and gloomy elements. Skeleton bodysuits along with complex embroideries and feather embellishments all contribute to the supernatural aura of the collection.
